I live in an agricultural country where nitrates are so thick in the water pipes are crusted with crystals. My little town seems to think it is better to compensate for this by adding how much chlorine bleach smell vapor full of clothes when you run the dishwasher. My house has copper pipes welded sure metal was dissolved in water does not make us any good either.

I would buy gallon bottles of water a month and finally decided to give this unit a chance. I bought this device and some additional filters. BEST PURCHASE MADE IN AMAZON!

Fast water filters out tasting as good as I've bought bottled water. Filters takes around 40 gallons worth and saves me a lot of money every month. There is no bleach smell or taste. There is no darkness of nitrates dissolved in water. No metallic taste either. Simply clean, clear waters and great tasting and pointless.

Only complaint I have (and the reason this does not get 5 stars) is that it does not remove fluoride from water. Seriously, it would be good if PUR was allowed by law to filter this toxic substance.
worked well for our vacation trip

We Culligan water system filter under the kitchen sink and want to have clean, filtered water for our vacation without having to buy bottled water to take a vacation at green as possible.

We bought this unit based on evaluations by Consumer Digest. This was the only unit of the economy at prices that made the cut. We brought over 4 bottles of water from food grade stainless steel for use.

It worked very well. We only use 15 gallons all our vacation and left behind a family unit for use. Going to buy an additional unit of another family member who is using water distiller (which is being carried out all minerals, so it's probably unhealthy). For the price on Amazon, this can not be beat!

Viewed tap connection options that some of the other High-end filters had water, but do not want to mess with trying to connect to different taps in the hotels. This unit does a lot of water for us and we were able to fill our water bottles and stash in refrigerators and coolers to make it nice and chilled.

At home (before the trip), try this and put water Culligan filtered through this and water came out surprisingly smooth.
Product Quality

I used the dispenser for about a Pur week and so far has worked very well. The water tastes good with almost any mineral taste. An earlier review indicated that it takes 45 minutes to allow water to seep to the bottom. That is possible, since it is a container of 180 oz. I would not let that stop you from, however, as seems quite comparable to the rate Brita filter. The nozzle is constructed very well for the product and opens and closes well. I can not imagine any problem with sturdiness. For those who are concerned that there toting handles on both ends of the dispenser for easy transport. Also note that comes with a filter. I am very happy with it so far!
