Water Filter Emergency
EMERGENCY !!!!!! HELP!?!?
My 55 gallon tank a leak! I think it was somewhere in the rubber, the binding material back of the tank to not bother to try to fix it. It was a bicycle, there were only a few hermit crabs, a clown and a bass, I put in my spare tank only (a paltry 10 gallons). I emptied the tank, but what I can do with fish?! My other tank is fresh water only, and the 55 gallon filter will not fit into the 10 gallon tank … would be well for about 1 1 / 2 days for 10 gallons without a filter, if I did partial water changes? Or the water changes only the excess stress? I am the only one I know salt water created, so my only option is a pet store … I'd rather not.
If you only have a clown and a blenny 10 gallon tank should be fine. (I will discount the crabs, as they only stay on the ground.) Why does it need wait a day and a half? This is an emergency! Go to Walmart (or whatever you prefer pet store) and get a proper filter for a 10 gallon tank (I favor tetra whisper internal or external filters), if you happen to have a Walmart open 24 hours a day, now please. if not, will be fine until morning without a filter. While you are getting to get something to fix the filter tank also. Feed your fish only what they eat and not a little more. Indeed, the 10 g tank heat, right? My main concern is the clown and its hard-blenny too painful a hermit crab. Do not do water changes unless absolutely necessary (criteria use), as are the changes of water in a 10g tank would be extremely stressful. If you must, not more than 1 to 1 and a half gallon at a time, and no more than once every 6 days. As long as your spare tank is configured correctly then you are the fish should be fine. The fish in the store live animals in tanks populated with not much more space, definitely superior to their fish to water ratio limit! I hope all ends well for you.
