Introduction
The problem is not that the world is running out of water. No, the problem surface water is that water is increasingly polluted due to urbanization of rural areas and industrial agriculture. Meanwhile, many more people simply who wants a sip. When you look at Earth from outer space, is a lot of water.
But less than half of 1% is fresh, United Nations reports water consumption worldwide is doubling every two decades. Already, 1 million people lack access to safe water. In 2025, United Nations figures that 2.7 million people suffer from water shortages. Because water critical role in our health, nearly all U.S. European water and is carried out and managed by companies regulated utilities whose rates of growth and the costs are covered by government decree.
The best way to play in the water is probably through companies that provide pollution control, water purification, construction of pipelines and irrigation control products, although there is nothing wrong with having a couple of successful water services as well. A key example, China has 20% of the world's population but only 7% of the water.
The water industry should be mature, investment opportunities. Hydrologists expect the demand for water will increase with the growing world population. Some predict that by 2025, 3.5 million people will be living in water scarce countries, compared with 500 million in 2002.
Mayor exporters:
• Turkey export water to Israel and plans to send more to Syria, Jordan and Greece
• France sends trucks full of millions of gallons of water in Algeria
• Russia, Norway, New Zealand and Scotland have considered exporting water
• Malaysia provides most of the waters of Singapore
• Islands in the Caribbean for the water tanker to help with the shortage
• A plan by Canada to send 1 million gallons of water a day for Middle East withdrew after protests from environmentalists.

The portfolio is based on market shares of companies potable water. " portfolio objective is to achieve greater market average performance. " The benchmark is S & P 500. But this is not an index fund portfolio approached. This is a portfolio of assets.
Stock selection
There are a lot of companies in the water market. Not only the drinking water supply companies, companies that provide pollution control, purification, pipeline construction and irrigation control products, etc.

1. 3M Co. (NYSE: MMM) – Safety, Security and Protection segment offers personal protection products, security products and security management products energy, cleaning and protection products, and roofing granules for asphalt shingles.
2. The American States Water Company (NYSE: RMA) – is dedicated to the purchase, production and distribution of water.
3. Aqua America (NYSE: WTR) – Works as the holding company regulated water service or sewage, mainly in the United States.

9. Consolidated Water Co. Ltd. (NASDAQ: CWCO) – Consolidated Water Co. Ltd. (NASDAQ: CWCO) Consolidated Water Co., Ltd. (CWC) is dedicated to the processing and distribution of water in the Cayman Islands, Belize, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
10. Danaher Corp (NYSE: DHR) – The Professional Instrumentation segment produces and markets electronic instruments testing and calibration of equipment, instruments and supplies for water quality, and ultraviolet disinfection systems, retail and commercial petroleum products and services.
11. Emerson Electric Co. (NYSE: EMR) – The segment Climate Technologies provides products and services for industrial control climate, including residential, commercial, industrial and heating and air conditioning and commercial refrigeration.
12. Flowserve Corporation (NYSE: FLS) – is involved in the design, manufacture, distribution and maintenance of flow management of industrial equipment worldwide.
13. General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) – Its products include chemicals and processing equipment and process water systems.
14. Gorman-Rupp (AMEX; GRC) – pumps and fluid control.
15. IDEX Corp. (NYSE: IEX) – and specializes in fluid measurement technology, health and science technologies, dispensing equipment, and fire, safety and other diversified products built with specifications of its most demanding customers.
16. IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDXX) – The water segment offers Colilert, Colilert-18, and tests to detect Colisure E. coli-forms and coli in the water; Enterolert, which detects enterococci in drinking water and recreation, and Quanti-Tray, which provides measurements of users microbial contamination.

24. Pennichuck Corp. (NasdaqNM: PNNW) – primarily involved in the delivery and distribution of drinking water in New Hampshire through its three regulated water utilities.

28. SJW Corp (NYSE: St. John's wort) – is dedicated to the production, purchase, storage, purification, distribution and retailing of water in the United States.
29. Southwest Water Co. (NASDAQ: SWWC) – Provides water production, treatment and distribution, collection and wastewater treatment, utility billing and collection, management utility infrastructure construction and public works services.
30. Valmont Industries Inc (Nyesa: VMI) – The segment Irrigation manufactures and distributes mechanical irrigation equipment and related parts and services. Its equipment is used to apply water and chemicals to crops. The segment manufactures pipe wall light welded steel pipe, used in grain handling systems, pneumatic tube systems, fire protection systems, automotive products, and exercise equipment.
31. Veolia Environnement SA (Vivendi Environment Certificates of Deposit) (NYSE: VE) – The water segment includes water and wastewater activities, such as water distribution, water and wastewater treatment and industrial process water, as well as making of water treatment equipment and systems.
32. Watts Water Technologies, Inc., (NYSE: WTS) – through its subsidiaries, designs, manufactures, and sells water safety and flow control products primarily for water quality, water safety, water flow control, and water conservation markets in North America, Europe and China.
