Portable water purifiers can be trusted?
If you have seen advances in water purification systems in the past two years, you know there have been some great strides in the new technology of portable filter! From Vestergaard Frandsen LifeStraw introduced in 2005, it appears that great strides have been made in the field of portable water filters. But can they be trusted? If camping water purifiers commercial and survival safe for you and your family?
Can be, but you know what you are buying! Most portable water purifiers are available to consumers as to its filtering by how many of your devices micron filter. So if a cleaner says she has a 2.0 micron filter which means that the filter will stop at nothing more than 2 microns, but anything smaller will slide through the filter.
A micron is one millionth of a meter, or nearly 25 400 of an inch. To get an idea of how small a micron is actually the point at the end of this sentence is between 60 and 65 microns in diameter. That's very small! The bacteria, however, is even smaller, ranging from larger than 10 microns to as small as 0.1 microns.
So when looking to buy a portable water purifier, look like a small micron as possible! Many cheaper models are rated filters 2 and 3 microns, where some top of the line filters are filters as tight as 0.2 microns. When health of you and your family is involved, be careful not to endanger the safety for the sake of price. Look only the trusted name in portable water filters, such as Katadyn and MSR. Some models even have a filtering system of 2, so that larger particles are absorbed in the first filter, extending the life of main filter.
